Establishment studies of Adana Chamber of Industry came to the fore on the
dates, which our country entered into the planned development process. On 5 July
1966, at the institution of Adana Chamber of Industry, through the ‘Proxy
and the Certificate of Authorization’ which a bill stamp worth 150 kuruş also added
on and is prepared by the first Notary Public of Adana, the first official step
in the establishment was taken.
The demands of 181 manufacturer member that are registered to Adana Chamber of Industry
and Commerce were recorded in minutes of meeting as: ‘As it is known, within
the planned development process where we are at, the main aim is to increase the
national income rapidly. Industrial activities have the first level importance during
the realization of this aim. Today, contemporary countries with increased welfare
levels are the countries, which have already advanced in industry, without exception’.
When the calendars showed the date of 5 December 1966, all the procedures had been
accomplished. The first Management Board and also the first Committee Meeting were
held on this date.
First Committee members, Kemal Tuncel, Ahmet Kavrakoğlu, Hizbullah Ocak, Sakıp Sabancı,
Selahattin Canka, Kenan Çetinel, Yalçın Yarman, Rüstem Sardaşlar, İhsan Fikri Pancaroğlu,
Bahri Ay, Teyfik Yılmaz Sergici, Kadir İpek, Bahtiyar Olgun were present
at the meeting, which Adana Mayor Ö.Lütfi Hancıoğlu also participated in.
During the first meeting, Chairman and deputy chairman of the Committee were assigned.
While Selahattin Canka was assigned to the Chairman and Bahtiyar Olgun
was assigned to deputy Chairman of the Committee, the Management Board was formed
as:
Sakıp Sabancı took up a position of the Chairman of Management Board while
Yalçın Yarman, a position of deputy chairman, Kenan Çetinel, a position
of account keeper, Hizbullah Ocak and Ahmet Kavrakoğlu, a position
of the member of Management Board.
Adana Chamber of Industry, put signature under many important decisions related
to development of regional industry, especially the establishment of Hacı Sabancı
Organized Industrial Zone. In addition to responsibilities assigned by Law 5174,
ADASO always took place near the top among institutions supporting economic,
social and cultural activities of the Province.
